The Power of Editing

People who have been around headshots and photography in general begin to develop an eye for a photograph and the power in editing. It's a trained thing. For a new comer looking at their proof sheet or disk it can be hard to see the diamonds without the cropping and touching and so forth. But editing is a beautiful thing.

Check out the below to see the power of editing.

If you have had your images done with someone who uses a digital camera... then you have a LOT of options once it comes to editing.

Note: I do not know any photographers who will edit the whole shoot, so you have to understand that the images can be cropped, color corrected, tilted, touched up and made perfect. Most photographers will do two shots and for anything tricky you need to go to a retoucher. I edit about 6 pictures and give cropping options. I figure if I am always telling the clients they can do more than just a commercial and theatrical shot that I had better supply the editing to back it up. I send them to retouchers if there is something above the normal editing. This, by the way, is one of my added bonuses. I actually don't know any other photographer that do some of the special things that I do without upcharges.

Keep editing in mind when you are picking out shots to survey. (Surveying is covered under "Picking The Shots To Invest In")
